Set of 6 placemats made of marama and cumare fiber. Handcrafted in Guanía, Colombia by Ana Gladys Aponte, indigenous woman artisan of the Porvenir community.
The marama is a palm found in tropical and humid areas of the country, and this specific weaving technique was done in spiral form. The edges of each piece is woven with the cumare pal fiber, another local palm species found in Colombia. The fiber extraction of the marama does not require the destruction of the tree itself, so this extraction is considered to be a sustainable extraction process.
