This is the traditional mochila of the Kankuamo indigenous reserve in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia. It is made from 100% fique, considered that natural fiber of Colombia. Mainly known for its strength and durability. These bags are very functional, practical, and easy for everyday use. They are very resistant to all types of weather and can be worn by both men and women. Wear this piece across your body, or on one shoulder.
The Kankuama women weaver behind this bag is called Aura Montero, an award-winning master artisan from Atanquez, Colombia. Artesanías de Colombia granted her the Gold Medal of Honor.
